The Dollar tree on Canal Dr. in Kennewick will round the coupon down to $1.00 they say that the coupon cannot exceed the value of one product. I had this problem with the solo coupon that was $1.25/2 they wanted to round it down to $1.00 even though the coupon was for two products. I told them I didn’t understand since I was buy 2 and that would be $2.00 not a $1.00 so why couldn’t they just put the $1.00 value in and then the .25 cent value in and they said they wouldn’t do that. So I won’t take a coupon there that is over $1.00 unless it is really worth it.

    • Sounds like a misinformed cashier – someone who doesn’t understand coupons. Maybe shoot an email to customer service and they can let those employees know.

Has anyone had luck with coupons at the dollar tree? I was just there and was so embarassed and irritated! I tried to use the hormel pepperoni coupon and the cashier would not accept it. He said it was a fake internet coupon because it was not printed in color, (which means its a copy according to him) and there was no mark on the back of the coupon…..HUH? He talked to a manager and whipsered like I was a criminal all the while the line is getting longer and longer behind me. Another customer even spoke up after I said No one prints in color all of the time. You can print in black and white and the other customer agreed and said its too expensive. So he calls another manager and it just got worse. Im totally frustrated with coupon. I like others are trying to save money not cheat the system and then we are treated like criminals. So I was told they only will accept printed coupons in color! Also I was looking for an additional sunday paper and the manager said they sold out 7 monutes after they were opened on sunday. Said there was a line of 15 people just waiting…..could we all please be considerate of the rest of your fellow couponers?

    • Sorry you have had such bad luck and treated so bady veganchick32. I totally understand your frustrations! Been there, and it still happens to just about every coupon shopper every so often. I know that the dollar tree is new with taking coupons so there will be quite a bit of these learning experiences I fear. And yes, I have heard that the dollar store gets hit HARD with coupon shoppers Sunday morning when there is doublers and the papers are gone quickly. I know they do have a limit though (like they can only have 2-3 or something like that) and then they can purchase and get back in line and get some more papers after that. It’s nuts. I just wish the Tri-City Herald would go back to their Sunday newspaper $1.00 deal like they had a few years ago, then all that madness would stop. I actually am not upset at the couponers that get the papers at the dollar store – you have to be quick to get the newspaper deals just like you have to be quick to get the coupon deals out there too. Its a race…
