February Golden Scissors Contest

The Golden Scissors Club

This month I have some new updates for the contest.

1) I will be having you also upload a photo of your receipts with your entries now, as it will help me decide a little more quickly.

2) Next I wanted to talk about what I am looking for in the Golden Scissors Winner.  Many of you might have wondered why I am choosing the winners that I am choosing. Some of you may even have thought that perhaps an honorable mention should have won when they paid nothing and the winner paid a little.  Know this: I have been couponing for a while now and I have had many shopping trips that are free. I consider a lot of things when choosing.  Here are some things I take into consideration:

  • Variety. It is a lot harder for a couponer to get a LOT of things for FREE. Most of the time we can get a few things here and there (and sometime lots of that one item free), but a vast array of items is a little more challenging. If your shopping trip has a nice variety of healthy foods as well as toiletries ect, you will score higher than someone with 30 boxes of cereal only.
  • If catalina coupons are used its great, but maybe someone not using as many of them will get a higher voting by me.
  • Rebates, Catalinas Earned, and Register Rewards Earned for later. These I do take into consideration, however someone spending $10, and earning a $13 rebate back will not score as well as someone who spends .02 and doesnt get a rebate back.  I look at the total spend out of pocket –the lower it is, the better!
  • Using FREE coupons are great in my opinion!
  • Golden Scissors Club is only for deals you would do at a Grocery or Drug Store. Clothes or Mall deals would not count.

Okay, so with all that being said, let the February Entries BEGIN!
