Local Deal: U-Pick Apples & Peaches

Megan French emailed me this great local tip!

Ray French’s farm in Richland (No relation to me actually, just
share a last name!) has an orchard where you can pick apples and
peaches. Gala Apples are 50 cents per pound, peaches are 60 cents per
pound. (I saw Galas on sale for 1.20 per pound at walmart.) They should be selling till it freezes (last year it
was until i think october/november-ish).  These are
fresh, and fun to pick! Cheap produce idea for those in the tri-cities!
Best apples I have ever had.

Address for Rays Farm:921 Harvest Lane Pr NE, Richland, WA 99352

Thanks for the email Megan!

  1. Thanks. We did this last year somewhere else. It was a bit further drive but we got galas for .25 a lb. Need to find out if they are doing it for that price again.

  2. Yes, please share!

  3. does anybody know if Galas are good for applesauce? i bought a variety of apple last year (cant rememeber name..maybe fujis??) that didnt work for sauce and wasted them 🙁 thanks! 🙂

  4. OK I found it though its a different price this year. U pick Gala apples are 3 lbs for $1. U pick Asian pears (so good) are .50 lb. And when we went last year they had other things out already picked by where you pay, like winter squash that you can get too. It is called Hatch Farms.

Take 395 north(like you are leaving Pasco towads Spokane) up to the Preston Wine Cellar area. Turn right on Vineyard Dr. Drive a ways and turn right on Falls Rd. It is 2 miles down on the right.

  5. Oh and I did find that these apples: Red Delicious, Gala, Fuji, Rome are good for apple sauce, but that it is best to not do straight one kind, but to do a mixture of apples.

  6. We went to Rays – Picked the last of the Peaches and a few Goldens for applesauce (the Galas were done). They are now closed until 10/15 for Fuji’s which will be .60 per lb.

  7. Jenny – Do you have a phone number for Hatch Farms or know what they have right now? Or what hours they are open?

  8. Found it: Hatch Farms 380-1993

  9. It’s me again! I found a place called “Adams Place” today. It is at the very end of S. Oak in Kennewick. He has peaches $7 for a 28lb box! I just left and there were only about 40 boxes left. The peaches are RIPE and ready to can – or eat!!! They are YUMMY!!!!!!
