Looking to Donate some of your FREEBIES locally?

Attention TriCitian Couponers! If you have a lot of extra freebies from couponing and would like to donate here is one lady who will take those items off your hands and donate to a great cause. Her name is Marie and here is her email she sent me.

“I am very involved in sending care packages to our troops overseas, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. The students and staff at the elementary school I teach at have sent many care packages. I also volunteer for Washington Operation Thank You, and we send care packages every 6 weeks. Our Christmas packing will be the week of November 9th. We especially need toiletries, small or trial sized and snacks. For a more detailed list, go to:

Would you please contact me if you’re willing to donate any of your extra freebies for the care packages? You can reach me at [email protected] and 845-2009. I am happy to pick up items from your home, or you may drop-off items at my home, 1304 Williams Blvd. in Richland, or Jefferson Elementary, 1525 Hunt Avenue (along George Washington Way and across from Rite-Aid). If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you,

Marie Holst”

  1. Another great place to donate are to the SCHOOLS!

Things DESPERATELY needed are BABY WIPES, HAND SANITIZERS and of course CLEANING WIPES (Clorox type). Why? Because there are MANY children with allergies and the baby wipes help keep kids from spreading food particles around while the hand sanitizers help the kids from spreading their little germs. The cleaning wipes are used to clean the desks.

At some schools the PTO/PTA volunteer groups will put together care packages not for the troops but for families at the school who don’t have the money for the basic necessities. At my elementary school last year there were at least 10 families that were in need of those basic things because of financial difficulties. There was one family, last winter, that was homeless and living out of their car! So all those small samples that are great to mail to the troops are also great to put into care packages for families in need. If your school doesn’t have that program then START one!
