I often get emails about who takes Competitors Coupons here in the Northwest. So here is a quick post about the ones I know of here locally. If you are in Oregon or Western WA and know of any other stores that take competitors coupons please share.
Walmart: Will price match all other stores prices and in ad coupons. They do have some exceptions for example if something in another stores ad says Buy 1 Get 1 FREE or 20% off, they may not price match that.
Yokes: Will price match other grocery stores in-ad coupons. (They will not price match drug store coupons like Walgreens or Rite Aid) They will however take Albertsons doubler coupons to price match.
Fred Meyer: Typically it is not Fred Meyers policy to price match other grocery stores competitors coupons, however here in the Tri-Cities area most people have been able to.
Target: Will price match other stores in ad coupons + prices!
All other stores do not take competitors coupons here locally that I am aware of. Please share in a comment below if you are in an area with another store that takes them where you are at.
Target will also price match other store-ads:)
I have tried before and found that Walmart will not match Fiesta Foods and Safeway in ad coupons. =(
Thanks Sarah, I thought for sure I posted Target, but I was in a hurry this morning.. 🙂 Just added Target!
Do you know if Walmart and Target will take Alb’s doublers as well?
Walmart will match some of Fiesta Foods it just depends. They say they won’t do meat or produce because the quality is lower (whatever). I’ve never had problems with Safeway ads.
Jennifer, I do not think you will, you might get lucky with a cashier who might let you, but if the price is not listed they do not price match, make sense?
Karrie – or anybody else who would know – will Wal-Mart do BOTH the price match WITH a manufacturer coupon? I was told once long ago by a cashier that they will only do one.
I have had the Queensgate walmart in Richland BOTH price match AND take a man coupon (Did this with a quaker sale and some others). No problems. Remember Walmart will get reimbursed for the man coupon!!! (So it is no skin off their back!)
so price match means the same accepts competitor coupon?
Kennewick WM will honor Fiesta Foods. I did have one cashier tell me they didn’t match meat and produce, but I’ve had a CSM and all other cashiers match it for me. They will not take Alb doublers though.

Wal-Mart’s policy is to match competitors advertised prices (as posted on the Wal-mart.com website). They do not take doublers because it is not a matched price on a specific item. (they did at first, then changed the policy) There’s nothing wrong with asking your checker to request a CSM if they are refusing to match.
OH…almost forgot…using a man coupon with a price match (called stacking) is perfectly acceptable and saves oodles on gas. 🙂 happy shopping!
Note to HERMISTON readers: Walmart in Hermiston does NOT price match. Just had a very bad experience trying to do so. Called Corporate and sure enough … each store gets to choose their radius for accepting competitors prices. Hermiston Walmart has a 6 (yes, SIX!) mile radius. Not very helpful!
I also called Hermiston Safeway and they will NOT price match at all!!
So, it leaves us Hermiston shoppers to choose … either accept the local prices or drive to tri-cities (or Pendleton) for more options. In my case, I tend to do the later and I was reminded today why I do!
I was told in Fred Meyer Richland that they do not match Safeway or Albertsons coupons because you need a membership card to get those sale prices at those stores. So they will take store coupons from Fiesta,& Yoke’s. I am not sure about Walgreens and Rite Aid.
