Hello my dear happy money saver readers.
I have noticed a bit of harsh words and contentions have been happening in my coupon chatter box (in the sidebar of my blog) or even in the comments sometimes on happymoneysaver. This has been disappointing to me as my website is meant to be a “Happy” place… a place where we as thrifty parents, coupon-shoppers and money savers should all get along and support each other on our frugal journey.
Many of you who coupon shop work very hard to do the best you can to save your families money. This is an important job and we should be feeling fulfilled, excited and happy to be saving so much. (Sending hugs to you all — you are doing great!) The last thing any of us want to hear is words that make us feel bad about couponing or feeling guilt over stocking up. So I wanted to share with you all what I would like my Coupon Chatter Area to be used for:
Coupon Chatter Etiquette
:: You may post when you find a Hot Deal somewhere. Post these deals like crazy if you want to! (I cannot post everything that is out there so I love when you share with everyone your amazing deal finds.) I would especially love to hear about clearance finds that you come across.
:: You may do some Coupon Trading – If you are really looking for a certain coupon let everyone know. I am sure someone will be able to give you the “hook-up on that coupon you need!”
:: You may Share Your Couponing Triumph’s! Sharing Gentle Frustrations is okay sometimes too.. just as long as you do not slander another person, business or company’s name. If you have a problem with a company or employee of a store make sure you go through them to resolve your problems before posting it publicly on my blog. If someone is kind enough to post a deal scenario, do not attack them or make them feel badly. Remember, just because a comment you make is on a website you need to remember that people have real feelings that can be hurt. I know I am personally pretty sensitive to hurtful comments on here. A rule of thumb here is something my momma used to tell me “If you cannot say something nice, don’t say anything at all. “
:: Make new couponing buddies. There’s no friend like a couponing friend!!
:: Note: I do reserve the right to delete any comments in my chatter area and comments of my blog if I do not feel they are meeting these guidelines.
Long story short… We need to be on each other’s sides here. We are frugal coupon using people and need to support each other, not tear down or guilt our fellow couponers. Stop with the harsh words, Be content with the deals you can do and be “happy”.
Note: This message is not directed at any one person or situation. It is an accumulation of all the drama that has been going on for the past few weeks. I do care about all the things you say and do, and I hope you continue to share your happy thoughts in my coupon chatter area!
