By now, we’ve all heard the devastating news about the 20 children who were tragically taken from their families this past Friday. I’ve been holding my children a little tighter over these past few days as I’m sure you have as well.
While my heart is still breaking for these precious families, I’m thrilled to know that there are organizations in place to help the victim’s families.
If you’d like to help the members of the Sandy Hook Community, please consider donating to one (or more) of the following organizations:
United Way of Western Connecticut– Donations accepted online via credit card or by mail via check.
Red Cross– Currently offering assistance to the victims. However the Red Cross recommends donating to United Way instead.
Newton Parent Connection– Donations made here go directly to the families involved or to helping provide support services to the community.
Emilie Parker Fund– The family of this beautiful, blue-eyed 6 year old has created a Facebook page to accept donations for her family. All donations are made through First Credit Union of Utah.
Noah Pozner Fund– Another sweet 6 year old whose twin sister survived this tragedy in a different classroom. His family is accepting donations through the Eventbrite link found on their Facebook page.
Save the Children – A play center in Newtown, CT allows children to express themselves through play while the parents are undergoing counseling. While there isn’t currently a direct donation link to this facility available, you can make a donation to Save the Children and the funds will be used to benefit all of their programs.
Newtown Youth and Family Services – Local organization providing direct assistance to Sandy Hook families.
And of course…please remember these families in your prayers, both now and in the days, weeks and months to come. They have a very long and painful road ahead of them. 🙁
