Ahhh, Facebook. How I love thee…in spite of your almost maniacal pleasure in keeping us all dancing on our tippy toes!!! 😉
As you may have heard around the blogosphere, Facebook has once again made a few changes in the way Page Owners (like yours truly) can “reach” their respective readers through their posts.
While they’re not charging us per se (as some erroneous rumors suggest), they do allow us the option of paying to “promote” our posts in order to reach more of our fans:
While I personally don’t have the budget for this, I understand that as a company (a company who recently went public, no less), Facebook is just trying to make some money. I totally respect that.
But while I’m completely comfortable with whatever reach my posts achieve by their own (free) merit, there is growing concern that, once again, some fans may not be seeing all of my (and their other fave blogger’s) posts. Which means they’re missing out on some HOT deals, newsy bits of info, fun contests, etc. (Yikes!)
Okay, so. Remember awhile back when I explained how to make a list in order to “see” my posts? Well, the brief tutorial below is a little update to that method, which in the end, is actually a bit easier to execute thanks to Timeline. (Yes, it’s actually good for something! Ha!) 😉
Creating a Fave Blogger List – Revisted
Step 1: Just as before, go ahead and “like” any and all of your favorite blogger’s pages. (If you haven’t already done so, of course.)
Step 2: Hover your mouse just under the “like” button and a drop-down menu will automatically appear. Click on “+New List”.
Step 3: On this next page, you’ll notice your recently “liked” Page’s cute little icon looking back at you. 😉 Now, on the left sidebar, click “Pages” to add all your favorite blogs to this list. Click “Next” (bottom right corner) when finished.
Step 4: Next, you’ll need to name your list (ex: “Favorite Blogs”) and decide how – or if – you want your list to be shared: “Public”, “Friends Only” or “Only Me”. When you’re satisfied with your list, click “done”.
That’s it! From now on, your list can be easily accessed from your home screen (the first screen that you see after you log in) by clicking on your list’s name from the left-hand sidebar. (If it doesn’t appear right way, click the “More” button at the bottom of the list.)
If you ever want to add another page to this list, simply hover over the “liked” button on that page and click “add to list”. Voila!
One last thing: Facebook calculates your likes and comments into the great big, “Social Media Equation”. So it’s important to keep interacting with each of your favorite pages as much as possible -so like some of my posts and comment if you want to see my feed.
And there you go! Another solution to the oftentimes “buggy” world of Facebook. 🙂 As always, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any problems.
