I am feeling a wee bit left out that you all are getting to do the fun Albertson’s “Round up” of coupons in the Northwest this week. But the good news is that I am over visiting my family over here in North Carolina where they can sometimes DOUBLE & TRIPLE coupons, baby! So yesterday I was able to try my hand at being able to double up to 20 coupons at Harris Teeter store. But I had a bit of trouble along the way…indeed made some rookie mistakes.
Rookie Mistake #1
Problem is…I am in a beach house and I didn’t think to prepare my coupon shopping trip in advance…and there is NO printer at this beach house! So I didnt get to do any printable coupon deals this time around. Ack! Total rookie mistake! I brought my coupon box full of coupons and found a couple of deals, but I would have been able to do a lot better if I would have thought in advance a bit better.
Rookie Mistake #2
I finally made it to the store with a few coupons in hand + my coupon box for any other deals I wanted to find. I was able to score FREE Twizzlers – they were on sale for $2.00 and I had .75/1 coupons that I was able to triple = FREE! Added 5 bags to my cart. Then I found 2 Sobe $0.50/1 tearpad coupons I had in my box and they were on sale for $1.50 so tripled it would be FREE as well! I needed Soy Sauce for the dinner I was making later that week – the Soy Sauce was $2.45, with tripling my .55/1 coupon that made it only $0.80.
I also had a TON of great $1.00/1 coupons that I wanted to triple as well. The Truvia was $4.29 and I thought” oooh…tripled would be $1.29 which is a great price.” So I grabbed 4 of them with my coupons. Then I also got really excited about my $1/1 Seventh Generation product coupon where I found single paper towels for only $2.00 – so I thought they would be free + $1 in overage after doubler…but nope! I forgot to read the fine print that you can only triple coupons up to $0.99! Just like the round up we are doing. So at the register I had them put everything back except one Truvia cause I wanted it…lol. Yes another rookie mistake.
All in all I really enjoyed myself couponing at a new store.
Total Spent on all those items above: $4.09 of which $3.29 of it was that Truvia…dang it!
Total Saved: $18.53
I hope you all have a lot of fun this week doing your Albertsons Round up Coupons too! I would love for you to share your shopping trips on the Happy Money Saver facebook page (so I dont feel like I am missing out so much…)
