HERE’S A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME…

Hello! I’m Karrie Truman, urban homesteader wanna-be, and the proud owner of the blog Happymoneysaver.com. I started blogging in 2009 as a way of sharing recipes and money saving ideas with my three silly sisters.

My FIRST ever cookbook is available for right now! It’s called Seriously Good Freezer Meals: 150 Easy Recipes to Save your Time, Money and Sanity.

–> Go here to read more about my book and pre-order it!

Growing up in a large family, I’ve has always been keen to find ways to cut costs and, more importantly, time. I try hard to live my dream of spending time with family as much as possible while usually getting into all sorts of trouble.  You know, doing crazy things like making 50 freezer meals in a day, raising chickens, learning to make things the old fashioned way, and dancing to 80s music while cleaning the house.

I live and blog out of eastern Washington.  I have four amazing kids who keep me running around and steal my heart. My website, Happymoneysaver.com, helps my readers learn ways to live life to the fullest while on a budget, how to make things from scratch, and to try, try again when things go wrong.

Hello! New to the site but I can already tell I found a good place!
I am a grandmother raising my 16 year old grandson. I use to cook from scratch, now I really want to learn how to do simple freezer meals. We are busy with school and activities and I would like to have a crock pot cooking a meal for us when we get home. Thank you for letting me join!

I enjoy your website for all the practical information, recipes, Amazon deals but especially your homesteading stories. It has been a long time since you have written about your chickens. I love the pictures! You do a great job!

I am making a conscious effort to declutter my life and my in-box, and as such in recent weeks I have unsubscribed from many newsletters and decreased the frequency of others. Yours, though, I love, both for the great deals and the fun projects, and I am happy to see it in my in box every single day. I wouldn’t dream of cutting down on that! Thank you for all your hard work!

I started making some yogurt today. It’s it normal the bottom of the milk pan to scorch when heating the milk?

My milk didn’t form a skim. I was in a hurry, so I put the pot in an ice bath, do you think that would make a difference?

My yogurt didn’t scorch at the bottom so it might have gotten too hot. You will just have to wait and see if it works! 🙂 Crossing my fingers for ya.
