1. Pulse a few times to combine.
2. Add cold diced butter to the machine next.
3. Pulse the mixture until coarse crumbs form with some pea-sized pieces. then stop mixing.
1. Add ice water and pulse just until moist clumps or small balls form.
2. Press a piece of dough between your finger tips and if the dough sticks together, you have added enough water.
Transfer dough to a clean work surface, and gather dough together into a ball. Divide dough in half and flatten to form 2 disks.
Refrigerate 1 hour before rolling out.
– 3-4 pounds apples (6-8) such as Golden Delicious, Cosmic Crisp, or Granny Smith
– 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
– 3/4 cup sugar
– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp ground cinnamon
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 2 tbsp unsalted butter cut into small pieces
– 1 tbsp water
Peel, core, and cut apples into 1/4-inch-thick slices; halve crosswise, and add to bowl.
Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt to the apples; toss to combine.
Add top pie crust, pinching to seal top and bottom together.
Brush top crust lightly with egg wash and sprinkle with a dusting of sugar for a beautiful crust. And bake until bubby and golden.
