What do you think of when you think of August? Do you think about how summer is almost over? Do you think about the hot days it brings?
I will tell you what I think about.
Peaches.
Well that, and the fair. And all the good food at the fair.
But mostly peaches.
They are juicy, sweet and nutritious. The chin-dripping sweetness of fresh peaches just can’t be beat. You can pretty much find them at your local grocery store year round, but nothing compares to that couple of weeks in August when they are at their peak in freshness and ripeness. Did I ever tell you how much I love peaches? Yeah, I really do. It’s a sickness really.
Last year I canned some peaches and they turned out beautifully. (Don’t you fret, we will have a post on that coming soon.)
I was so protective over those jars.
If one of my children or my husband would get in arms length from them-there peach jars, I would growl… and if that wasn’t crazy enough I would then yell “Back away from my peaches!”
This was not good.
Had I been deprived of good peaches in a previous life time? Was it that big of a deal? Come’on.
I knew that this behavior wasn’t acceptable, and instead of holding onto “my precious” I needed to maybe give one…. and only one, away as a gift. I created this cute tag that says, “I love you to Peaches” ( I am so clever, huh?), taped it on the jar and went to deliver it to a good friend of mine who has always been there for me. She of course was so happy and surprised that I brought a jar over for her….even if she had to pry my fingers off of the sweet little gift.
When I got home, I decided it felt good to share the peaches, so I called the family over and we ate freshly canned peaches with ice cream. The funny thing is, although I love peaches a lot, that wasn’t in the end what made me happy.
It was sharing something that I had worked so hard on, with the people who I love most.

I love peaches. I am a Georgia peach. We have a grower close by and have been able to find the varieties that we love. Sun price, Fireprince and flame prince are wonder. Free stone, large juicy. We go to dickies farm. http://Www.gapeaches.com. I put up about 5 batches of peaches did 4 batches of preserves and have some in freezer for smoothes. Enjoy the taste of summer.

SO Cute!!! Would you be willing to share a printable? And I agree, it would be hard to give away beautiful peaches, but this idea makes it easier :o)
