To have a really accurate total wouldn’t you need to add the cost of the extra newspapers you purchase and if you have to go to multiple stores that would add gas to the cost as well.
I’m never able to do as well as you do on your shopping trips, but thanks for the inspiration!

And by the way Karrie, that is an amazing trip, I totally have coupon envy!

If the doublers are such a hassle for them, and they hate dealing with them so much, why do they bother putting them out? Don’t get me wrong, I like the doublers, certainly, but it seems like they are digging their own grave and them complaining about being there.
Marcie says
Also if they limit their doubles to only one set per transaction . That sucks for albertsons because then we would all go to yokes where we don’t need a club card ! They price match and they take the doubles 🙂 … So albertsons would lose lots of customers + sales 🙁
Karrie says
Louise…I talked with one of the managers and she said 3 transactions in a row(at Pasco) and that all the local Albertsons talked about setting this standard. You would then need to go through the line again to use more doublers.
Karen, I have heard this issue of changing the way things work, with limiting you to one set of doublers per club card. I told the checker that either people would just get lots of different Albertsons club cards to use with doublers or do doubler deals that do not involve using a club card. So, yes it would limit people that arent necessarily “crazy couponers..” lol..but for the rest of us, we seem to always find a way..ha ha.

Has anyone heard that it is “policy” now in Pasco that you are only able to do one transaction of doublers at a time? I used to be able to do three…but on Monday was told that it has now changed to only one! Please let me know if that is true so I’ll start going some where else.

Karen I heard the same thing at the Lee store. The cashier was getting annoyed after a guy came in with 20 sets of doublers and said the new technology might be kicking in. BTW The machine quit taking his doublers after 20.

When I was at the Richland Albertsons last night one of the workers told me that they will have new software up next month. It will be able to tell how many sets of doublers you have used by your albies card. It will also limit you to one set of doublers per sale period. Has anyone heard anything about this? Because that would be a real bummer.

Gotcha. I also presume you do a lot of these transactions when there isn’t a lot of business (middle of the day or late at night). Having cashiered a few years back, I can see how your “rotation” of transactions would keep a cashier amused/busy during a down time, but drive them crazy during a peak business hour!
I’ll definitely have to convince the DH to purchase more papers next time with the doublers. Even with the three we got, we saved something like $12 and only spent $7 or 8 OOP (I don’t have the receipt on hand). 🙂

Wasnt that trip AMAZING? I didnt think it would be so good when I got up there..

Laura P. I just looked at that transaction and the coupon was $1.50 off milk, plus the doubler (that would be $3 off) not .50 off and then a doubler (that would only be $1 off the milk).
I have had really good luck in the other store in Richland. They gave me 2 sets of doublers. Also, when I have gone to the one off Lee, they were really nice to me too.
I also want to point out to you newbies that if something is our of stock, you can get a raincheck and always use your coupons and doublers the next time doublers come out (that is if your coupons aren’t expired by then). Also, the other store in Richland (off of Leslie and Gage) does LOTS of orders so you can use your coupons and pay for it then, and then come back to pick it up after they call you.

I think I will Thanks Karrie. Have to go anyway Hubby loves those Rotel Tomatoes and he added them to my list yesterday so what a good time to get um.. If anyone has any of those coupons Ill take um.. I can even hook you up I have several coupons I dont use like baby stuff… Who ever want um just let me know what dates and papers and Ill get um for you!
Laura P. says
How in the world did you get the milk for free? .50 with a doubler does not equal free milk…so… what did I miss?
kerrie says
Thanks for the 101 🙂 If you ever do an ‘advanced’ class I would be interested in attending. I have the basics but could use some more insight to be able to shop like you do!

I recieved/purchased 4 sunday papers, and then went to one store, they gave me one set of doublers, then another store for another set of doublers, and finally a friend had some extras to share. So in total I think I used 12 sets of doublers. All the Albertsons in our area are going to limit you to 3 doublers in a row for one shopping trip. Then you would need to get back in line to do another set of 3 doublers. Even Pasco was really nice last night & let me do 3 sets in a row. (Way to go Pasco!)
Typically I will just get all the items I want to purchase in my cart. Then I will go and get a small basket, leaving my full shopping cart at the front of the store. I fill up my small basket with 2-3 doubler-sets worth of items, go through the line and check out. Then I repeat this again, shopping another 2-3 sets in a row, putting my purchased items back in the cart. That way I dont have to go out of the store every time.
The doubler limit is per shopping trip (which to me means through the line, or go out of the store, come back in= new shopping trip)..and the stores can choose to enforce it however they like, but most stores here allow you to do multiple doublers. 🙂
Genni!! Oh my goodness, the bags are in the stores either near the cereal or near the milk perhaps. I know that Pasco still had lots of them and they are soooo cute! You get 1 FREE reusable bag for every 2 Kelloggs cereals you buy. Take your receipt in today and show them.
LPH says
How many papers did you purchase to get that many doublers? I know the Albertsons in Richland (off of Lee) can be sort of stingy with letting people do multiple transactions with doublers.
kerrie says
Really?!? Do they all do that in Kennewick? I am relatively new to this but for weeks have been just going once a day after i was told by cashier that i was only allowed 3 a day . . .
Elise says
Just ridiculous!!! Amazing 🙂
genni says
Albertsons is awesome and lets you do many transactions.. There is this one lady that keeps the line up for hrs in kennewick!
Good Job Karrie! How did you get the bags? I didnt see um when I went and so I didnt get mine.
kerrie says
how did you manage to use so many doublers in one day? I thought you could only use 3 a day?
