I love winter… especially when it snows. The beautiful whiteness that covers the earth brings childhood memories of building snowmen and sledding to my mind. With so much goodness though, there is bound to be dread. For me that is shoveling my driveway and sidewalks in the morning after a good snowfall.
This week we got snow. It was so lovely until I had to go run some errands. I knew what had to be done. I bundled up with a coat, gloves and hat, and headed outside with shovel in hand. As I was shoveling I couldn’t help but think how nice it would be if I didn’t have to do this. Right then and there I decided to make that possible for someone else. I started shoveling away at my neighbors sidewalk and continued up her driveway.
It felt so good when I was done. I put in a mornings hard work and helped someone else along the way. I live next to some of the best neighbors around and they often shovel my sidewalks for me, so I know how happy my neighbor must have been when they came out that morning to find the work had been done for them. I know it’s not the most easy thing, but I encourage you all, next time you have snowfall take this challenge and be kind by shoveling your neighbors sidewalk.

My husband and two of our neighbors have snow blowers. They compete with eachother to see who gets the neighborhood cleaned up first. Last year when one of the guys got a new “Bigger” blower my husband would race over to his house to clear his driveway before he could use his brand new snow blower. This year I have come home twice to find that our neighbor has cleared our sidewalk, steps and driveway. Couldn’t imagine it any other way! 🙂

That is really nice! My husband had left for work yesterday by the time our storm put down alot of snow, so I was stuck at home all day since we had a snow drift that blocked my car in the garage 🙂 I would have LOVED for someone to shovel my driveway (Im 6 mo pregnant with twins and cant do it myself), heck I would have paid someone!!
