I’m so very excited to share with you a brand new menu plan all about make ahead and freeze foil packet recipes for oven, grill or campfire cooking! Five new super easy and delicious freezer meals for you to make and get yourself all prepared for summer.
Where’d this idea come from? Well, as I was talking with one of my super mom friends, trying to find out how she does what she does, we ended up talking about how much her family loves camping. It was January and she had all of her camping trips planned and booked out for the full summer already! My mouth dropped and I think I sat there stunned and in awe for a minute then explained how camping trips typically work out for me. Ha! Ha! Basically, I don’t have anything planned, I just know that I want to go camping! And with not planning, Wednesday in the summer comes around and my husband says, hey, we don’t have any sports this weekend, let’s go camping!
Now, I love camping actually…like really love it. But figuring out a camping menu, shopping and basically getting everything prepared for camping causes me a LOT of anxiety. And there have been times that I’ve actually had to say, “Sorry, but No!” Not enough time to get prepared!
So back to the story…where she gives me one of her best tips ever.
She prepares by making ahead and freezing all her summer camping food in advance!!! She makes ahead and freezes foil packet recipes for oven, grill or campfire cooking including things like desserts, breakfast burritos and foil dinners!
WHHHHHAAAATTTTTTTT?????
Mind blown.
So I thought..heck yeah! I can do that! Then maybe I won’t feel like saying no so much. And therefore we might actually go camping this year. Ha!

I’m rent camping soon, wondering if they need to be frozen or if foil packs can be stored in cooler and for how long?
I usually freeze mine in advance and they slowly thaw in the cooler. It depends also on which day you plan to cook them. They do better thawed when cooking.
I’m not familiar with canned potatoes, can you use regular potatoes?
I use tater tots but I bet small golden or red potatoes would probably work too.
These are awesome! I can’t wait to try them and share them!
Freezer meals are amazing and I just got your cookbook and I can’t wait to make and share your recipes on my site for everyone!
How long do these last in the freezer? Is it the standard 3-6 months?
Around 4-6 months! 🙂
Karrie, I’m just wondering about using aluminium foil and cooking related to health risks.. any thoughts?
I wish I would’ve gotten your newsletter a week ago as we’re going “camping” this weekend. I’ve printed out the recipes and am going to try them! I normally make grill packs with just vegetables, but meat and vegetables sounds even better!
