We’ve been trying to enjoy the weather as much as possible so today we’re doing an activity outside – something creative and fun! We are doing Alphabet Hopscotch!
I’m all about simple wholesome fun! For this activity all you’ll need is chalk! You can buy some at the dollar store for just $1 or Walmart & Target for around $2.
You’ll need a relatively smooth surface either sidewalk, driveway, tile or other flat surface. Beginning with the square nearest to the starting point, write one letter at a time from A to Z in each space. Linzey & I decided to put an empty space on every other row. Let the kids help out if possible. I wrote the letters and Linzey made the boxes.
The first time around we did oldest to youngest so the little ones could see how to do it. Linzey was up first and finished quite fast so the second time she went she had to say a word that began with the letter or letters she was stepping on. It took her a little longer this way and she had to use her vocabulary!
Canna (age 5 almost 6!) is such a smart girl she said a word with each letter as well! So of course Landon was going to get in on the words too! Gotta love competition 😉 Since Drake is only 3 1/2 I thought it would be good to do numbers as well.
.
Monkey boy I mean Drake REALLY enjoyed the numbers much more than the alphabet! Can’t you tell?! 😀
I hope you are all enjoying this series and will try out some of these summer fun activities!
