May is National Strawberry month! This makes me excited for two reasons: First, I love eating strawberries, and second, I love cooking with strawberries! So don’t be surprised if you see a few extra posts about strawberries this month! I thought this easy chia seed freezer strawberry jam recipe would be the perfect way to kick things off. It’s healthy, delicious and can be ready to drizzle, slather, or (if you are like me) eat by the spoonful in less than 10 minutes!
So let’s not waste time talking when this amazing fresh jar of goodness is just minutes away! Here is our cast of super foods.
Strawberries, honey, chia seeds and lemon. Thats it! I don’t think you can find a healthier jam out there, especially if you use raw honey. Just add all the ingredients to blender or food processor and you are set. I have included an easy to print recipe card at the bottom of this post.
So why all the fuss over chia seeds? Well, they gel up any liquid that they are in, so it gives a natural jam texture without having to use pectin. They are also packed with fiber, protein, and antioxidants along with many other health benefits!
My favorite part about this freezer strawberry jam recipe is that you don’t cook it so you are able to keep that fresh strawberry taste. This jam is delicious on toast, waffles and even ice cream! Now, if I can only come up with a healthy chia seed Nutella, my life would be complete!

I love this idea as I dislike gelatin and quite like Chia! I am hoping to try it with blueberries as well.. Has anyone else tried it with different berries?

This looks great! I’m always looking for strawberry recipes as my strawberry plot is really starting to take off. I also like that with the chia you have added protein. Makes “jam” seem a little healthier.

I remember making strawberry freezer jam with my mom and gramma when I was really young and I loved it. I’m really happy to have found your recipe! I’m going to try this with all kinds of berries and fruits. I love the fact you make it raw… so much healthier!

So many of your recipes look great, but my strawberries are ripe and I’m ready to try this Chia Seed Strawberry Freezer Jam. I’ve had trouble with Freezer Jam thickening up enough before; The thought that I can use Chia Seeds that I know are healthy for me for this is exciting. I’m rating it the best, with the others close behind it in the ratings!

How much does this recipe make ???

I’m a total rookie when it comes to anything not ready to eat right away… this is a silly question, but how should I store these to put into the freezer? Does it expand, do I need to have it sealed or cover with saran to keep from getting freezer burn? Thank you!!!
Happy.MoneySaver says
Yes definitely keep it covered. You can store it in the freezer in a plastic lidded container or a glass lidded jar. I always leave a little room at the top for it to expand. ๐

Do you think I could use frozen strawberries for this?? Or even blueberries or blackberries?? I have some frozen that I got at an organic pick them yourself farm last year.
lindsey says
Amy, did you end up using frozen berries? I did and my jam basically turned out like a smoothie.
