The Top 10 Most Essential Gardening Equipment

March is here.  Do you know what that means?  It means it’s time to start thinking about the summer garden.  Spring is around the corner, and before we know it, we will be out there in our gardens cleaning, weeding and digging.  Although we do a lot of the work in the summer for our gardens, some of the most essential work starts right now, BEFORE we even get planting and harvesting.  We need to plan the garden, and clean up the garden from the fall and winter before we can even get started on the real ‘GARDENING’.  I have found the most essential gardening equipment to get your garden started this year.

1.  Square Foot Gardening Book
This is the perfect book if you are a beginner gardener.  Square foot gardening is easy, cost effective, and did I mention EASY?  This will teach it all to you.  Great reviews, too!

2.  Oversize Leaf Scoops
Not only will you feel so cool with these huge scoops on your hands, they make cleaning out the garden a snap!  Before the garden gets planted, it needs to be cleaned up from all of the leaves, old plants and sticks from the fall and winter.   This could take hours if you use your hands alone!  Trying to use a rake and your hand holding all the leaves is so awkward.  These will make it way more efficient.

3.  Bag Butler
Now this is a genius contraption to help keep your bag upright and secure! It always seems like some sort of a bad comedy routine when you have your hands full of leaves or grass clippings and you try to stick them in a plastic bag that is laying on the ground.  Half of the effort of the whole cleanup process turns out to be just getting the stuff IN the bag.  The Bag Butler keeps your bag upright and makes it so easy to fill the bag.

4.  Women’s Garden Gloves
The worst part about gardening is the dirt that refuses to get out from under your fingernails. A problem no more if you have these gloves!  I love that these come in great colors and have silicone fingers so that they can wash off well, keep your hands dry and keep the thorns out.  This is a set of 6 pairs, which to me is must!  I seem to go through gloves like crazy, either losing them or ruining them, so it’s always nice to have extras on hand.

5.  Garden Tool Set
All three of these tools are essential to your garden.  Let me tell you, I have had my fair share of tools that have bent or have had the handle break off.  These are great quality tools.

6.  Pruning Shears
These are needed especially in the spring to cut back the older stalks or branches.  I use my pruning shears all season long.  Fiskars always makes a sharp blade, so you can’t go wrong with these!

7.  Garden Bucket Caddy
I love how organized this looks!  It makes me happy to be this organized.  There is no reason our garden tools should be a mess, right?

8.  Bogs Boots
These boots are so perfect.  They are so comfy, let alone waterproof and adorable.  If you are going to do some gardening, these are a must to keep that pedicure in check.

9.  Garden Kneeler Pad
I live by having a kneeler pad with me when gardening.  It literally saves my knees!  Also, when I get a little tired, I just sit down on it and have a little rest.

10. Kids Garden Tool Set with Tote
We can’t forget our little helpers.  My little ones have always liked to help dig and plant.  I wish they helped with the weeding a little more!  🙂  Kids love to have their own set of tools to help, and these are perfect.
