  • A little surprise in my garden….

    garlic21

Today I went out to my little box garden and discovered a surprise – a few garlic shoots!

Look how sweet they are. Telling me that spring is coming. Filling my cold toes with hope of warm summer days.

Now, I planted about 12 garlic seeds this fall. Really nice big fat organic garlic too no less.  I planted them in nice rows, after googling and reading all there is to know about growing garlic online.

As soon as I walked away from the garden and went inside my dog came and thought – ooh she must have hid treats for me in the ground. So he dug around and messed up all my planting! I was so frustrated at that point (that dog…THAT DOG – arrggg!) I figured that I wouldn’t get any garlic since he probably ate them all. And I wasn’t about to go digging around again to try and find all the seeds.

So when I saw these beauties coming up out of the ground (only about 4-5 of them..) I was just thrilled to pieces.

Now it’s time for me to do some spring yard cleanup and prepare/design my garden plans again this year.

Did you plant garlic this fall? Do you have any little shoots coming up yet?

My dogs ate some of my cherry tomatoes as well, I got them from home depot (i cheated because I started planting late) they got so very big the overwhelmed the steak tomatoes, so we donated to the ladies at church, they were a hit with salads for bbq’s.
If I lived in WA state still I would say you would def have a doggy babysitter :) .
