I came across this activity of Star Spangled Wavers on spoonful.com. I knew this would be fun for the kids to have during the Grand Old 4th Parade and Celebration in downtown Pasco.
Star Spangled Wavers
- Scissors
- red, white and blue felt – only $0.23 per piece at Walmart
- red, white & blue ribbon
- hot glue & Gun (not pictured above)
- skewers or dowels
Trace and cut 3 stars out of 3 different colors of felt felt: 6 inches, 4 inches and 2 inches wide.
Hot glue the dowel to the biggest star, then glue the medium star by sandwiching the dowel.
Glue the small star on top and allow time to dry. Once everything is dry you can tie the ribbon around the dowel! There you have it!
The Grand Old 4th Parade is at 10 at Memorial Park in Pasco, I hope to see you there!

Hi Karrie,
A tradition that we have started here with our boys during the summertime is letting them sleep out in a tent all summer long. This is the 4th or 5th year we have done this. Last summer, our boys slept out in the tent for 72 nights! They got an earlier start this summer and began sleeping out there during Mother’s Day Weekend. They are on night 38 already! They have blowup beds, sleeping bags, extra blankets and a battery operated lantern out there. They love it! My daughter slept out there for 20 nights 2 years ago and decided that she likes not having the boys in the house so she stays indoors now. I found a 7 person tent on Amazon for $99 and now even our boys’ friends come over and sleep in the tent. We have a small house so it’s like having an extra bedroom.
