Extra, extra! The Department of the Interior has just announced that all active military members, National Guard members and reservists, and their dependents will be able to get a FREE Annual Pass to National Parks beginning this Saturday, May 19th.
If the active duty service member is currently deployed or happens to be traveling separately, their dependents can pick up the pass with a valid military ID. The Annual Pass will allow the owner of the vehicle & the passengers in a vehicle to access the site for FREE. If a particular park charges an entrance fee, the pass will cover the pass owner & 3 adults aged 16 & older. (Unfortunately, the offer does not apply to retired or veteran service members.)
You can use the Annual Park Pass at the following types of parks:
National Park Service parks
US Fish & Wildlife Service lands
Bureau of Reclamation lands
Bureau of Land Management lands
US Forest Service locations
US Army Corps sites
You can get your free pass at any National Park that charges an entrance fee beginning Saturday, May 19th. Must show valid military ID. Each pass is good for one full year from the date of issue.
